Lawrenceburg is a city in Lawrence County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 10,796 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Lawrence CountyGR6. Lawrenceburg is southwest of Nashville and named after James Lawrence.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 10,796 people, 4,718 households, and 2,967 families residing in the city. The population density was 331.1/km (857.6/mi). There were 5,166 housing units at an average density of 158.4/km (410.4/mi). The racial makeup of the city was 93.29% White, 3.94% African American, 0.43% Native American, 0.39% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.84% from other races, and 1.08% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.67% of the population.

There were 4,718 households out of which 27.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.2% were married couples living together, 14.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.1% were non-families. 33.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 17.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.24 and the average family size was 2.84.
